The Duke of Edinburgh 1921-2021

Prince Philip – Duke of Edinburgh: 10 June 1921 – 9 April 2021

God of our lives, we give thanks for the life of Prince Philip, for his love of our country, and for his devotion to duty. We entrust him now to your love and mercy, and we pray for your mercies for the Queen and all their family through our Redeemer Jesus Christ. Amen.

CHURCH OPENING

St James Church will be open for Private Prayer 11am – 1pm Saturday 10th, 10am – 12noon Sunday 11thand 4pm – 6pm Monday 12th. –

CONDOLENCES – Government guidelines are that sadly we should not put out a book of condolence, however if you wish to write your own condolences/memories/thanksgivings on a sheet of paper and leave it in the box in church, we will later (Covidly safely) put these into a book of condolence which will be kept in perpetuity with village history.Alternately you can put a virtual message on the national book https://www.churchofengland.org/remembering-his-royal-highness-prince-philip

BELLS – a church bell will be tolled 99 times in memory of each year of Prince Philip’s life at 12noon on Saturday 10thApril 2021.

CANDLES – It will be possible to light a candle in church in a Covid safe way.

FLAG – our union flag will fly at half-mast till the day after the funeral.
